JUNIOR HIGH and HIGH SCHOOL STAFF

Our Junior High and High School staff is top notch!  Their teaching experience and care for students makes VCA a dynamic and fun learning environment.  There are more learning contexts than just the classroom at VCA.  Additional learning opportunities include: participation in sports teams in the CIF league, band and choir, art class, and customized learning through online classes.

  • ROBERT SCHUETZ - BIBLE AND HISTORY

    Mr. Robert Schuetz is excited to be instructing and helping young men and women develop and build upon their faith and Christian worldview. He strives to give his students a solid foundation and the tools to think through the Bible and the core doctrines of Christianity, as well as provide a historical understanding of what God has done throughout history. Prior to joining VCA, Mr. Schuetz served as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel of Rohnert Park. He has a BA in Pastoral Studies from Patten University.

  • SARA VISS - ENGLISH

    Mrs. Sara Viss has a BA in Secondary Education from Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. She has over 10 years experience teaching English from 7th through 12th grade, as well as teaching creative writing and journalism. She is passionate about helping students see Christ in the written word and to reflect Him in their own creativity. Mrs. Viss has three children at VCA.

  • WHITNEY WINTERS - AMERICAN LITERATURE, U.S. HISTORY, HS ART, JH GEOGRAPHY

    Mrs. Whitney Winters a native of South Lake Tahoe, but her husband and she moved to Santa Rosa from the Carolinas six years ago. Her educational background is primarily at the University level, with a year of teaching Jr. High at Spring Hills Christian. She instructed basic, intermediate, and advanced courses on Spanish language, literature, culture and history at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill from 2009 until her first son was born in 2016. During that time, she received her M.A., passed her Ph.D. comprehensive exams and was beginning work on her dissertation when God called her to pause her studies to focus on her family. She loved working with students again this past year teaching English and History at Spring Hills, and is overjoyed to begin teaching Spanish at Victory Christian Academy. Her husband and she have strong backgrounds in Academia, and they are passionate about using education to glorify God.

  • GABRIELA REYES - SPANISH 1, MATH 7, YEARBOOK

    Mrs. Gabriela Reyes is a Spanish-speaking native and loves teaching. She worked for The Salvation Army non-profit organization for six years and taught Sunday school for toddlers, middle school-aged bible groups, teens groups, and adult bible studies. She received her B.A. in Political Science with the idea to continue in the law field until God showed her that she loved teaching. She has also tutored in many subjects like math, Spanish, and more, for several years. Mrs. Reyes and her family, husband, and daughter, are happy to support and participate in your child’s learning journey.

  • CAMERON BOWEN - JR. HIGH & HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE

    Mr. Cameron Bowen has a BA in Biology from Sonoma State University. Before joining VCA, he was the Worship Pastor at Newsong Church for 4 years. And before that, he was a teacher at PUC Prep in Angwin, Ca, where he taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, and Bible for 2 years. He is passionate about music, loves science, and is excited to continue helping students be in awe of the God who made them by studying his creation.

  • ALLIE METHUM - JUNIOR HIGH, HISTORY

    Allie received her BA in Political Studies from The Master’s University (Santa Clarita, CA). She is a native of Santa Rosa and is excited to be teaching in her hometown. She is passionate about learning and teaching God’s plan through history. In her free time, she enjoys trail running and hiking in Annadel State Park.

  • HEATHER GRAF - JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL MATH

    Mrs. Graf holds a BA in Mathematics Education from Idaho State University and is currently in her final semester at the University of Missouri pursuing an M.Ed. in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum with a focus on Mathematics Education. Before joining VCA, she taught middle and high school math in Washington and Idaho. Mrs. Graf is passionate about improving student engagement and fostering meaningful discussions in the field of mathematics.

  • WENDY CUNNINGHAM - JH/HS CONCERT BAND

    Mrs. Wendy Cunningham has a BA in Music Instruction from Azusa Pacific University. Prior to joining VCA she taught elementary band & choir and served as Vice Principal at Rincon Valley Christian School. In addition to serving as the VCA Head-Of-School, she will be directing band and choir. She is passionate about using the gift of music to the glory of God! Mrs. Cunningham has three children who have now graduated from VCA.

  • KIM BRATTON - JH/HS CONCERT CHOIR

    Ms. Kim Bratton has a BA in Music Education, with a Choral Emphasis, from the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music.  Prior to joining VCA, she was the choral director for the Mendocino Unified School District for 23 years. She taught Elementary, Middle and High School Choir, as well as holding leadership positions in the district.  She took her Middle and High School Choirs to National Music Festivals all over the United States, including New York City and Carnegie Hall. In addition to serving as the VCA Vice Principal, she will be directing the JH/HS Choir Program and leading Student Council. Kim also has a certified Therapy Dog, Yellow Lab named Bailey,  who has been working at school for several years and she is excited to share him with students and staff at VCA. She has a passion for teaching children and sharing Gods love through music. She is thrilled that God has led and called her to VCA!

  • JOE MITTEN - PE TEACHER AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

    Mr. Joe Mitten is working for us right now as a P.E. teacher and Athletic Director-in-training.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Physical Education, from California Baptist University in Riverside, California. He aims to encourage and inspire an active lifestyle through sports and exercise, as well as create an inclusive and uplifting environment for students of all developmental levels. He's shadowing and co-teaching this semester in preparation for the Fall, and we're just so grateful to have him, he really has a heart for students and for the Lord!
