SECONDARY STAFF

Our secondary staff is top notch!  Their teaching experience and care for students makes VCA a dynamic and fun learning environment.  There are more learning contexts than just the classroom at VCA.  Additional learning opportunities include: participation in sports teams in the CIF league, band and choir, art class, and customized learning through online classes.  VCA also provides a tutoring hour from 8:00-8:45am every morning to help students catch up or excel. 

  • ROBERT SCHUETZ - HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE AND HISTORY

    Mr. Robert Schuetz is excited to be instructing and helping young men and women develop and build upon their faith and Christian worldview. He strives to give his students a solid foundation and the tools to think through the Bible and the core doctrines of Christianity, as well as provide a historical understanding of what God has done throughout history. Prior to joining VCA, Mr. Schuetz served as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel of Rohnert Park. He has a BA in Pastoral Studies from Patten University.

  • PAMELA PALOMEC - HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH, JUNIOR HIGH EARTH SCIENCE, JUNIOR HIGH PRE-ALGEBRA, ELEMENTARY MATH

    Mrs. Pamela Palomec lived in Martinez, CA for the first 26 years of her life before getting married and moving to Sonoma County in 2020. Mrs. Palomec has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish as well as a Master of Education, both from Arizona State University. She has a passion for the Spanish language as well as Latino cultures from personal ancestry as well as having been married into a Mexican family. When not working with young people, Mrs. Palomec enjoys doing activities with her church (Bayside Santa Rosa), running, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and spending time with her husband, Ellis,  and dog, Mickey. 

  • QUENTIN MOORE - HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS

    Mr. Quentin Moore has a BA and MA from Pacific Union College (Angwin, CA) and a California Teaching Credential for Biological Sciences and German. For 41 years he taught at Redwood Adventist Academy in Santa Rosa, teaching every kind of science and mathematics you can think of. He loves the family-like atmosphere of a small Christian school, and we are thrilled to have him in the VCA family!

  • KELLY DEVRIES - ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AND SECONDARY P.E.

    Mrs. Kelly DeVries has a BA and multiple subject credential from The Master's University, where she also played basketball. She has a life long passion for sports and how they can positively impact youth. She has over 20 year's coaching experience, most recently at Rincon Valley Christian School where she also served as Jr. High/Elementary Athletic Director. Mrs. DeVries has just enough children to make a basketball team, four of whom are at VCA.

  • MELANIE PICKARD - ADVANCED MATHEMATICS

    Ms. Melanie Pickard graduated magna cum laude with honors from Pacific Union College, Angwin, California. She has a degree in History and a minor in Math. She taught high school for six years and was chair of the Math Department at Santa Rosa Christian School. She has tutored high school and college students for fifteen years in algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, biology, chemistry, physics, history, and social studies. 

  • SARA VISS - HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH

    Mrs. Sara Viss has a BA in Secondary Education from Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. She has over 10 years experience teaching English from 7th through 12th grade, as well as teaching creative writing and journalism. She is passionate about helping students see Christ in the written word and to reflect Him in their own creativity. Mrs. Viss has three children at VCA.

  • WENDY CUNNINGHAM - PRINCIPAL AND MUSIC INSTRUCTOR

    Mrs. Wendy Cunningham has a BA in Music Instruction from Azusa Pacific University. Prior to joining VCA she taught elementary band & choir and served as Vice Principal at Rincon Valley Christian School. In addition to serving as the VCA Head-Of-School, she will be directing band and choir. She is passionate about using the gift of music to the glory of God! Mrs. Cunningham has three children at VCA.

  • KRISTI SCHUETZ - SECONDARY THEATER ARTS TEACHER

    Mrs. Kristi Schuetz has always had a passion for the performing arts and enjoys sharing that with others. She served with her husband in youth ministry for over 10 years and loves working with teens. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production and Screenwriting. She has worked as a Producer for large scale, corporate events for many years, giving her experience working with theatrical teams in theaters around the country. She is married to VCA’s Bible teacher, Mr. Schuetz, and they have a sweet 5 year old son, Ezra. Mrs. Schuetz has loved working with the kids and is excited to continue to help them hone their skills, find confidence, and have fun on stage.


  • JOSEPH NEWTON - HIGH SCHOOL ART TEACHER, YEARBOOK, APEX, YARD DUTY

    Mr. Newton has a BA in church ministries from West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA. He taught in a Christian school in Southern California for 11 years, teaching 3rd grade for 8 years and Jr./Sr. high for 3, and served as a youth pastor for close to 15 years. He is excited about teaching art and helping to enhance or even unlock the creative side in the students.

  • MRS. KRISTEN ABDO - HS ALGEBRA 1 AND 3RD GRADE MATH

    Mrs. Kristen Abdo got her BA in liberal studies with a concentration in Mathematics from Sonoma State University. She taught in and supervised a tutoring program in Santa Rosa City schools for 15 years and then got to be a stay-at-home mom. She found Victory Christian Academy when it was time to register her daughter for Kindergarten, and is grateful that they chose VCA for their family's education and to now be able to teach in a Christ centered school. Mrs. Abdo's goal is to help students to develop their relationship with God and to fall in love with learning.

Special Secondary Options

We offer Foreign Languages through Sevenstar Academy. This includes Spanish, French, German, Latin, Mandarin, and others. A teacher will track and ensure progress.


Math classes through Algebra 1 are offered in a conventional classroom. Upper-Level  math classes (Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics) will be offered online through Apex Learning. This allows us to offer a large variety of classes to meet each student's needs, including Advanced Placement and Honors courses. Student progress will be monitored by Ms. Pickard, who will also be available to tutor groups of students or individuals. With Ms. Pickard's years of tutoring experience, we are confident each student can excel!


Zero-period tutor volunteers with PhD-level expertise are available to assist students of all levels.  Classes are scheduled to allow flexibility for JC classes for upper years.
